Interesting how Solomon was born in Geelong and his brother William was born in Melbourne. Makes one wonder if gold mining eventuated in the brothers relocating to Reefton from Victoria.

Marlene Boyd Almost certainly a goldrush connection. The usual route from the Oz goldfil;ds was to Otago goldfields then to Hokitika and later to Reefton.

Obituary. William Kittelty. The fast diminishing band of West Coast pioneers was further thinned on Saturday afternoon by the death of William Kittelty, who passed peacefully away at his residence, William Street, after ailing for some considerable time.
The late Mr Kittelty was a native of Ballarat, (not reported correctly, he was born in Melbourne)
where he was born 72 years ago. When a young man he was attracted, like thousands more, to Otago, news of the wonderful gold discoveries in that province having quickly spread to all parts of the world. Having worked on the goldfields there with varying fortune, Mr Kittelty joined in the rush to the West Coast at its inception, and he had remained in this district ever since. After experiencing the vicissitudes characteristic of the miner's life, Mr Kittelty entered the employ of Mr Felix Campbell, merchant, of the Greymouth, by whom he was employed for the long period of 36 years, failing health eventually causing him to relinquish his duties.
He had proved himself a capable and sterling worker and when he retired, he received a pension from his employer in token of the excellent and faithful services he had rendered. Mr Kittelty was well known and esteemed in Greymouth by a large circle of friends and acquaintances. He was an admirable and sterling citizen and a kind and exemplary husband and father.
His death comes as a severe blow to his wife and family and to his brother, who resides at Maori Gully, but may the knowledge that the sympathy of the entire community goes forth to them in this, their dark hour of trial and affliction, tend to assuage their grief.
