Remember making the replacement clock hands out of copper for the town clock when I was working at Shannon's Plumders.
I believe it was for the local watch maker then, whom I can't remember their name.
Ken Shannon took me under his wing to teach me the trade of Coppersmithing.
Even though I was a Plumbing apprentice at the time.

John Walker Howard Hughes repaired the clock mechanisms and requested the replacement clock hands.
Well at least I've got alittle bit of me in that icon.
Now 65yrs old and living in Far North Queensland. Miss my home town to bits.
Really enjoyed my life there.

I remember a time when a handful of us from my year level were chosen to go and do our day’s schooling in the front window of that garage for all the passers-by to see. I was sick on the day and couldn’t go … and I was heartbroken!

This photo taken well after the petrol pumps were removed off the corner of Thomas Brothers Garage. The clock in those days was just a normal round about untill they made the base of the clock round.
