Next Question! The buildings in these photos (especially the postcard photo) appear to have a weatherboard cladding. However they also appear to be a very similar style, have a similar layout, and are in the same location as the Grey Main School buildings that I remember having a concrete or plaster cladding. So was the later Grey Main School a total rebuild or the old High School building modified?

This is Grey Main School which was opened in 1876. We are celebrating our 150 years in April 2026. It was the first school in the Grey District and catered for all children until Greymouth Technical High School opened in 1923 on its present site.
There were three schools built on this site . The third was build in 1974 when the Greymouth Intermediate was built and the present Grey Main School was relocated to Joyce Crescent. In the early 2000’s the Intermediate closed.
