Towards the end of his life, Jack Hinton VC would visit the New Brighton RSA. My mate knew Him from the Kells Hotel days. I thanked Him for his service, that gave me a safe and happy life, and he said he was bloody scared at times. Jack is buried at the Bromley RSA cemetery, and a very treasured and close friend of mine, who also served in the war, is right next to him. They would get on well with each other. R I P Jack and Syd.
