I guess it does. I spent a few weekends at the Bruhn’s house because Nellie Bruhn worked for my father and sometimes took me home to her place in the weekends. A man called Len Lane would drive her to work and home each weekday. That was in the 1940s and late 30s.

Yes my father Len Lane was about the only car owner going into Greymouh to his work at Batys garage, he lived at Marsden ….and often spoke of giving workers a ride into town……from their Rutherglen homes…..don’t remember the free pencils, but do remember the little bell .jingling on the door as you entered the Bruhn grocery shop…..and the goodies in bags in front of the counter, like potatoes, rice etc….

Jillian Johnson the door bell was a cow bell. I remember Mum wrapping bread at that counter

Judy Kemp hi Jude, I've got a cow bell at my back door... I still remember that counter as if it was yesterday.... And your grandmother..... the bread unwrapped in the box at the door for every family to take their order as they went past.... Nobody pinched others bread...couldnt do it now....

Jillian Johnson sorry Jill I don't remember people helping themselves to the bread, but I'm sure that happened, we didn't move in with Grandma until Grandad passed. I was 4 years old, and remember sitting on the counter when the bread was wrapped.

Think it was left out in the box for the travelling public who had ordered…and late home…..i remember the Vienna loaf and the four quarters loaf …..could have half or a quarter….i can just barely remember your grand dad …
