Yes we cooked our toast on the open fire, worst bit was when it fell into the fire just when it was the perfect golden colour.

The flavour of toast over the hot coals was awesome. In later times I made it in front of an upright gas heater. And later still over the hot embers in the log burner. Very quick toasting too, by the way.

Only toast we knew growing up was made on a toasting fork on the open fire. Just had to get the embers right to get a good toast. Still remember that taste. Yum. S. check Bette than the electric toast today.
