Two of us from Greymouth were flown in by Iroquois helicopter into Inangahua Junction the morning of the earthquake. There was no communication from the settlement, so we were flown in to assess the situation at the telephone exchange, fix the problem and report back to Greymouth. Joke! The place was wrecked. They had no idea.
