I boarded with Phyllis in the early 70's and have many fond memories. She later moved to Christchurch, then Auckland, where she married Mervyn Davies, an ex West Coaster. I was honoured to attend their wedding in Auckland.

WEDDING
NAYLOR—GREENWOOD. The wedding took place recently at Holy Trinity Church, Greymouth, of Phyllis May, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs E. P. Greenwood, of Greymouth, and Warrant Officer Reginald John, youngest son of Mr John and the late Mrs Naylor, of Westport. Rev. S. Corney, of Westport, officiated, and Mr. J. Paterson was organist. The bride, who was escorted by her father, was dressed in a frock of cream satin beaded at the waist and shoulder yoke. The fully-flared skirt was panelled from a low waist line at the back and formed a long flowing train. She wore an ivory embroidered tulle veil falling from a coronet of orange blossom, and a three-string pearl necklace, and carried a sheath of roses and Christmas lillies.
Mrs Heather McHerron, sister of the bride, attended as matron of honour. She was frocked in maize georgette over a matching underslip. Her frock was also beaded, and the anklelength skirt fell in soft folds. Her head dress was a gold rose, and the colour scheme was carried out in a beautiful sheath of gold roses, and she wore a gold locket, the gift of the bridegroom. Warrant Officer Edgar Nilsen, of Kaikoura, & fellow officer of the bridegroom, was best man. The wedding reception was held at Harker’s Lounge, where the bride’s mother, attired in a model frock of cyclamen crepe de chine with navy accessories, received the guests. She wa's assisted by Mrs F. L. Lynch, of Westport, aunt of the bridegroom, who wore a navy and white floral frock under a navy coat with navy accessories.
Warrant Officer and Mrs R. J. Naylor left later by rail-car for an extended tour of New Zealand. Mrs Naylor was wearing a model honey gold frock under a fur coat (the gift of the bridegroom), and a black hat and black accessories. The material for the wedding frock was sent specially from Egypt. Mr and Mrs Naylor will make their home in Westport. Westport guests who attended the wedding were: Mrs F. L. Lynch and Barbara, Mrs J. H. Greenwood, Mr and Mrs N. Dally, Mrs- Horace Greenwood and daughter, Mr and Miss Naylor. Mrs Len Naylor, Miss Grade Cox, Mrs Jenkins and Mrs Pickering, Mr and Mrs Earl. Mr and Mrs Fountaine.
