The repeated disasters to shipping that have occurred at this port ought to rouse the commercial community to some effort to lessen the risks which must always attend the shipping trade. Isn't that interesting, shame a proper overflow wasn't built in that channel so that in times of flooding, that channel/ overflow would ensure the river level was reduced, thereby helping the lower areas as well as the pressure on the floodwalls.
