Camille Enright Malfroy, known as Cam Malfroy, was a distinguished New Zealand tennis player and World War II fighter pilot. Born on January 21, 1909, in Hokitika, New Zealand.
Malfroy pursued higher education at Trinity Hall, Cambridge, where he studied Economics. During his time at Cambridge, he earned a Blue for tennis and was also a noted rugby player.
Malfroy learned to fly in 1931–32 while a student at Cambridge with the University Air Squadron. With the outbreak of World War II, he joined the Royal Air Force (RAF) and became a fighter pilot. He served with distinction, flying Hawker Hurricanes and achieving the status of a flying ace. His contributions were recognized with the awarding of the Distinguished Flying Cross.
Cam Malfroy passed away on May 8, 1966, leaving behind a legacy as both a sportsman and a war hero. He was 51 years old.
