William Morgan arrived as an 11-year-old on the Adamant at Nelson in 1874, with his Mother (Maria), Father (Henry), older brother (also Henry) and older sister (My great grandmother Eliza - aged 14). There were other Morgan children that didn't immigrate from Gloucestershire at this time (See https://freepages.rootsweb.com/.../genealogy/Adamant1874.htm). The National Library says this photograph is ca 1880s, which it must be, otherwise William would have been a 17-year-old hotel proprietor (in 1880). There are many Morgan descendants in Westport and further afield, with family graves at Orowaiti.

Seems this hotel was near or on the site of Christy's, the original hotel near the junction of the Inangahua and the Buller rivers (The Junction Hotel of recent memory was of later vintage and stood, not where the rivers met, but where the Westport and Murchison roads met.)
