DescriptionThe Late Arthur Foster loading vegies in Chch for Fairlies ,the Press photo was taken at Turners and Growers. Arthur was born at the Blackball Police station, his father heading away truck driving knowing the baby was due dropped his mother off with a relative, Policeman Arthur Honey who was later at Ahaura.

Said to be the first to drive a truck to the top of Mount Sewell he was nicknamed the Grand old Duke of York for the amount of times he went up and down the hill. The last photo is when he worked with Molloys.Map^[1]

We used to see Arthur on motorcycle runs with the Christchurch Post Vintage Motorcycle Club when we were over the hill. He attended race meetings along with Joe Gillman, and he repaired a puncture for me, at his home in Taylorville, which was a bit of a mission with the sprung-hub on my old Triumph.

Arthur (Foster) used to take me for rides,on the back of his road bike. Exciting, frightening, - a hero to me, with his trophies and memorabilia. circa 1954.
