Phyllis Aberhart nope, the old Catholic church was on Church Street, further up the hill from where McDonald's is now. I think the old Uniting church in the picture was on Tainui Street next to the council offices where the Challenge service station is

The church was wired for sound and Rev Best used to do a regular service broadcast nationally. Great memories of the hall out back for Sunday school and socials. Wonder where the Best boys are now.
