John Madden, born in Greymouth in 1953, is a New Zealand artist known for his paintings and ceramic work, particularly his landscapes inspired by the West Coast. He studied under Toss Woollaston and now lives in Karekare, Auckland. Madden's art often reflects a spiritual connection to the land, utilizing thick layers of paint, sand, and other materials to convey the drama and texture of the West Coast landscape.

My God went to Cobden School with him and same Class. Lived on Ward Street opposite the School. What a Small World. Was looking at some photos on the West Coast Historical page .Just a few Days ago and his photo popped up from back in the Day.
