The truck is Molloy Bros No 3 and the timber is most likely from the Bell Hill Sawmill to be unloaded at the Kotuku Railway Siding. The two boys are Ray Jollie and Barry Surton, from Kotuku. Thanks for putting me right. . It was Cash’s where they stayed. I had left primary school in 1946 so no idea how I remember the boys. So glad you filled me in on Duncan as I remembered Barry’s name but Duncan’s eluded me . It is so good you have all the correct info. as my memory is not as good these days I remembered that the boy’s father had disappeared . They were lucky to end up in Kotuku for a time.

Noeline Pinn The Surton boys' mother's maiden name was Mary Wells, and she went to the Kotuku School. Mary's mother was Isabella Campbell and she married John Wells in 1912. John died in 1939 and Isabella remarried Martin Cash in 1941 and they lived in a house on the Molloy farm. Mary Wells married Carnival Richard Surton Rangi in 1938, after which Barry and Duncan were born. The boys' father disappeared shortly after, and Mary left them for a time with their grandmother, Isabella, and Martin Cash.
