Judi Mears Hi Judi some wonderful memories, it was the greatest place to live and grow up there…I’m the youngest daughter go by the tag Maud. Mum & Dad (Maud & Jack)have since passed but Maruia will always be home. It was always so exciting having all the visitors come. They had many friends and relations who loved to come for a visit or stay awhile ..How about your Mum & Dad?

Judi Mears oh that’s very interesting.Lovely to catch up like this..my sister Janice used to go out with George Langridge. Must have met while the Langridge boys were in the Junction working on the roads.So I guess that’s how our family got to meet you all. I can remember Mum & Dad and I driving to Barrytown and calling in to visit Mr & Mrs Langridge on their farm. Henry was a great horse breeder. The scary part for me was driving around the cliffs I thought we were going to fall off, the road was so narrow. We were in a truck. But Dad was a pretty skilled driver back then. Fancy you having a kea as well. Interesting DOC declared not long ago the ‘ Keas are the only parrot that cannot learn to talk.’ Obviously they never met ours!

Hi Maud... I was surprised when I saw your post (I had thought your your Mum had passed away many years ago but thought I would respond anyhow!) Yes my parents have passed too. I can only remember meeting you girls a couple of times, as you had all left home. We sold our batch in 1972, so no more family trips to Springs Junction after that, although Dad and my brother Stephen and in later years my husband (Ken Mears), continued with annual duck shooting trips. Stephen found an injured Kea at Barrytown in 1969, which we kept as a pet, but unlike your kea, we couldn't teach ours to talk as he had a broken beak.

Hi Maud... a photo of us in front of the Batch at Srings Junction... we use to love visiting you and Jack when we came up during the duck season, or summer fishing trips. (Jack, Kathryn, Stephen & Judith Langridge- Mum took the photo).
