Statue given to Valentine Armstrong Snr

DescriptionI have been given a statue by my cousin Graeme Harrison whose family were well known i the Dunollie/Runanga area. It was presented to our Grandfather, Valentine Armstrong Snr, at some stage in his life as a miner at the 10-mile and elsewhere.
It is made of spelter and is French as the label reads Le Commerce.
Can anybody tell me anything about this statue and why it was presented to him please?ContributorLouise Irvine
