The history group has spent the last three years researching the men that have been killed in the Blackball and Paparoa Mines whilst working. we now have 40 men that complete a list of 29 that Les Neilson originally handed us to complete. We'd like to invite you to participate in this project and donate if you would like to, to help us fund it a plaque in their memory. We have been quoted $2800 for a beautiful plaque 600x 800mm.
We will be having an unveiling, if you'd like to be sent a reminder please comment and I'll add you to the list.
We will remember these men.

Albie Rose I worked at Liverpool mine for 3 weeks in school holidays aged 16.
The walk up to the Hoist wasn’t a walk in the park but the hoist ride made it worthwhile. No health and safety on the hoist system.

Albie Rose possibly she did win, court cases were very drawn out. We have discovered while researching this project. It was ofter better for the case to declared accidental, then the union paid out a benefit, where as mine related was a long process for compensation
