i remember as a kid ealing with Bob and Cynthia (Jo) Tuhuru in the gutters in Hoki. Mainly Fitzherbet Street The water came up through the drains, The eals were great eating, Diane Gutberlet

I think it was 1988 when Greymouth had a massive flood when the Grey River broke its banks and flooded the whole business area. Water over the counter in my husband's shop and others'. After that an amazing flood wall was built.

I recall my Father telling me about this poticular flood...rowing a small boat up and down Weld St....around the Railway Hotel bar...and the Barba ...I think it was Bill Dawn ...sitting on a high stool ,cutting a customer's hair

Remember about 1976 water poured down Weld Street flooding Sewell Street, came right through Greymouth Motors.
