Mr Gibson showed me that photo the other week meaning to return it to my neighbor, Barry McDonagh. Must have done because he has it again now.
Informs me that there were 2 of these Rolls taxies and both rolled into the river during the flood of 1958. After being fixed up one was owned by Mr Rolly Parker who is the source of our photo. On the reverse of our (local) copy is written 'Rolls Royce Taxi 1918 Otira'
If you squint you can see Mobilgas and their Pegasus logo

That was where my Family lived until 1954, I went for few rides in that Taxi I thought it was owned by a guy called Souter That photo is the Arther's Pass store

Rolls Royce Silver Ghost, resident in the Southward Collection for many years. Number plates are the 1956/61 issue.

Pete Lusk Where in Otira was the shop? a bloke named Jack Souter owned a RR silver ghost and had a house in APNP. The owner of the Auther;s Pass store was Mr McNae,, Do you know any more at all

Nui Fisher We went to Otira on the train to school til the YHA built. A new hostel the old then became our school. 1956. So I never saw that shop, the Arthur's Pass shop did look the same.

There was also a tearooms and fuel pumps up by the MOW camp.
