Mr Brown told me the other week that History House took just 2 months to get up and running. But what I really wanted to ask about was an old family story about Kevin being in charge of blowing out all the windows on Freyberg Terrace while he was in charge of council works.
There was a tree stump that needed to go so explosives were to be used. A little too much force. Shattered the glass windows of homes up and down the street. The council quietly paid and kept the problem on the down low.
That is some history I wanted to get down in writing! Unfortunately the cafe was noisy and I would have needed just another 5 minutes to put the question which was cut short. Didn't realise that last month's visit to Greymouth was his last lap. Almost got the scoop.
