O'Learys were the first to get power on further on up the river at Kotuku / Aratika.

I grew up there 1961 -1978… a fantastic place to live… the Arnold then was pristine… no willows.. no weeds and slime… huge trout. Then they bombed the Bell Hill and Ruru blocks with super and all the farms up the Crooked and the willows went nuts along with the weed and slime and we have what is there now. The bush walk is still ok but a bit wet up the top before the boardwalk. Well worth a visit…
