DescriptionBill Mountford was born in Blackball on the West Coast of New Zealand’s South Island. He was one of ten children, and rugby league ran deep in the family.
Five of the Mountford siblings, including Bill, went on to represent the South Island.
One of them was Ken Mountford, who like Bill also played for New Zealand.
Another was Cecil Mountford, who played professionally for Wigan in England and later became coach of the New Zealand team.
