Meg Christie Why? There is pre-Ngai Tahu history here. Mawhera Pa was originally Ngati Wairangi.

Meg Christie The site was at the head of the lagoon in Blaketown, now Swift St.

Was tthe site restored to its original condition?

Pete King Before Smith Street was extended there was a memorial to Chief Werita Tainui at the Greymouth side of the river. There is nothing now.
