DescriptionPicture taken in the gold bearing country of the Maggie and Maud creeks on the Howard Watershed, Murchison District. The Field has been opened up for unemployment relief workers assisted under the Governments gold prospecting development scheme and its most interesting feature is the Golden Hope Settlement where 43 married men and their families are living comfortably in log cabins built by themselves.

There are also a number of single men at the setttlment.A Government mining expert is in charge of the mining operations.As well as the subsidised workers there are a number of independent operators in the area,which is at present occupied by 225 people.
