No Kyle I am going to say the wrong side of the river, I am a pensioner now but in my teens my friends and I covered the whole of the Brunner/Dobson coalfields area and it was absolutely amazing how many drives and shunts that we came across and the history that was left behind very much over grown now and my days of clambering around the hills are over those old timers could smell coal and they would go after it regardless of the hard work required to get a result

Lois MacLean very interesting Lois and that is only part of it my Grandfather on my mothers side (Robert Boustridge) was a part of party mines on the the Kiwi side of the river between kiwi town/point to Stillwater the coal was of the highest quality steaming variety and the NZ and British Navy took every knob of it that they could get their hands on
