DescriptionFamiliar mountain landmark which was believed to have disappeared during last year's earthquakes. The belief that the 'Old Man of the Buller' had been shattered by the severe earthquakes of almost exactly a year ago is disproved by this photograph taken last week in the Maruia valley from the old road between Murchison and Lyell. This is the best possible vantage point from which to view the familiar old skyline landmark which will still be pointed out to passing tourists when the shattered road has been repaired. The Maruia River appear in the foreground.
