This is opposite Rotoroa Point just north of Gowanbridge.

Theresa Gibson when they layed a small section of track at Gowanbridge, the 2 proposals they had were that the Nelson Section was gonna connect to the West Coast line and the Waiau Branch, but sadly none of them ever happened.
If they had keep both the Waiau Branch and Nelson Section open and did those 2 proposals they would have made great tourist attractions

Only if that railway line made it to the Buller Gorge and was connected to the Westport line.

Ben Benjamin that was one of 2 proposals they were gonna do with the Nelson Section but neither of the 2 proposals ever happened. But why would the governmen back then only care about the main lines (examples would be Midland Line and Main North Line) and not the small branches like Waiau Branch and Nelson sections for example

Connor Smith there were heaps of proposals thrown around, not just two. The idea of the Nelson line heading over Tophouse and down to join the north Canterbury line was abandoned very early on, long before it ever made it to Glenhope. There's a never used formation south of Belgrove where the line was going to turn south, but ended up going up over/through the Spooners range instead, that was the 1880s
