DescriptionSarah Ann Havill (nee Ralph)) born 1837 Bisley Gloucestershire, England, United Kingdom. Daughter of James & Sarah Ralph. Sister of Ephraim, Ellen, George and James Ralph. Sailed into Auckland 1855 to meet her Uncle already there (Mills) with her Grandmother on board (died on sailing). On board materials for Government House Akld, she taught as a Governess, the Governors children (also Maori). Married to John Havill butcher from Exeter in Auckland, they also had gold interests at Coromandel and family stories of the VonTempsky times and Maori Wars there. They left with first of their children, sailed by Scow down to Nelson (pigs on board) stayed there a few years and then down into Greymouth Port and then down to Hokitka about 1867. She is Mother of William Curtis, Sarah Jane (Davey), Clara Helen (Honey), John, Albert, Frederick, Edward, Joseph, Thomas, Stephen, Rhoda (Gale)..large extended families too. Great stories to be told of our pioneering Grt Grandmother (from Stroud) and Grt Grandfather (from Exeter) and even their time at Coromandel.Map^[1]ContributorAnthea Keenan
