50 Million Dollar Price Tag.
Mayor Tony Kokshoorn turns on the new UV plant that will treat the combined raw sewage and storm water discharge into the Grey river. This is the first stage of completely separating the existing combined stormwater pipes that also carry sewerage into the river.
The UV plant will treat the discharge while the 50 Million Dollar new sewage schemes are constructed in Greymouth ,Cobden, Blaketown, Boddytown, Paroa, Taylorville, Dobson, Kaiata.
Construction of the sewage schemes concluded in 2018 when a new treatment station was built in Preston Road Greymouth at a cost of 9 Million Dollars. All up, 65km,s of new sewage wastewater pipes were installed.
