DescriptionThe remains of the railway station at Glenhope - once the passenger terminus for the Nelson railway. In the early days the service cars would have left from here to travel to Westport or Greymouth. The Nelson line only ever came down as far as the Gowan bridge, though there were plans to bring it further to join the West Coast line at the Inangahua. Ground formation work was completed as far as Mangles River - but this was abandoned in 1931 and the whole Nelson railway was closed in 1955-56. The Hope river of course contributes to the Buller, joining it at the Kawatiri Junction.Map^[1]ContributorSikandar Sahib
