DescriptionSupporters of an extension to the wall along the Blaketown lagoon, at the rear of Preston Road properties, in Greymouth. The wall has been built with sandbags as a symbol of determination to go ahead with flood protection work. The people in the picture include (from left), the borough works manager, Mr Kevin Brown, the Mayor of Greymouth Dr Barry Dallas with his terrier, Morghan, the Deputy Mayor, Cr Anna van der Geest, and some of the residents from the opposite side of the river, in Cobden, whose properties were saved from flooding by a similar wall. There was a photo in the grey star of. Casper , doc holiday ,and allan Payne as we tipped a truck load of spoil at the start of the wall.the greenies of the time wanted it stopped. They said it was too steep for the ducks to WALK up. There offspring are now running Lankies friends in Forest and Bird ? ?‍⬛ ?
