Does anyone from Greymouth have any old pictures of the house at 121 Shakespeare street? Built in 1926. I’m looking to find out its history and any old pics. PM me if you have anything. Thank you.

For location, it is across the road from the high school and next door to Granger House close to the corner of Shakespeare and Marlborough st. Thank you ?

Lindy Loo Hello Lindy - my family owned 121 from the 50s, all the way up until my Nana sadly passed away in 2022 and then sold the home in 2024. I’ll share anything and everything with you. It holds an incredibly special place in my heart.

Kelly Lee Aww, wow, that is a long time! I did see on the LIM, there was a Colin Lee who owned it for a while?. I have just bought the property and just love it, so am interested in its history. I am hoping to find an old picture that I can frame and put on the wall. Memories are special aren’t they.

Lindy Loo Colin was my Grandad ? they bought it in the 50s I believe and then it changed to a trust in their sons names around 20 years ago. Was in our family a very long time. I’ve always wanted to see a picture of when it was first built, but never found one. The council file doesn’t go back that far. Will help as much as I can ? my partner and I found some interesting articles from when it was with the Mackley family (who we think were the first owners)
This was from 1945 after her husband passed away and they were selling the home. I remember mentions of them living at 121 in the 20s.
