Date Created3rd November 2026CommentsLauraine Elley: I wonder if James Colvin, then Buller MP, may be the bald man with the long beard, as he certainly lived in Westland before 1870.

Doreen Wallis: Eliza Treacy of Turiwhati was a proud holder of a pioneer ribbon from this celebration. So few women, eh?

Geoffrey Bell: My great-great-uncle, James Molloy, was there for those celebrations. He was interviewed by the local newspaper, and the article was featured at the time. He was one of the main gold buyers around the No Town district and had a store at the 12 Mile.
