Owen Winstanley My memory of Rugby League on the Coast through the 50's and 60's is of about four or five teams getting their share of wins but I suspect Runanga may have had the upper hand over a sustained period.

Sandra Sands Im a bit bias from Brunner but you are right there were some great battles in those days. I remember one game when mrs. Senior hit the referee with her umbrella

John Coffey Not the Lancaster Cup. It would be the Lancashire Cup (there was also a Yorkshire Cup for clubs from that county). Wigan is in Lancashire. Wigan was alert enough to sign Ces and Auckland wing Brian Nordgren in 1946 after the international transfer ban had lapsed during World War II. The ban was re-imposed immediately after that so British clubs turned their attention to signing rugby union players from NZ and Australia.

Ken Meadowcroft I new Ces quite well though my playing career in the 60s. Also done a coaching course under him when I finished football. A real good bloke.
