Brian McIntyre I thought The Skelton Boys' dad worked with my dad at the NZR shunters yards?
Brian McIntyre
We did mention this in an earlier post and someone else confirmed that he did work at the Post Office but maybe after he had been at the railways. As I said he seemed very old
Brian McIntyre
I think Brendon Barrow confirmed that he was at PO
Margaret Elaine Sadler
Might have been when Dad was working down at the Railway Station. Know it was when the boys were at the top of their careers.
Lyn Wallace
Yes You both are right Brian McIntyre and Margaret Sadler.. Uncle Bill worked both at Railways and PO. Gosh seems like so long ago at Uncle a Bills and aunty Gwens home in Fox Street Cobden, all the boys being there, great memories. Billy had a stroke some years ago, limiting his speech, a sentence he does get out often is..Him a gotta go! And I believe a trainer friend of his named a race horse after those 4 words! Him a gotta go!!! How cool is that....awesome photo of the Clan Skelton. Thanks for sharing Christopher Morresey

Lyn Wallace when the boys were at the highlight of their careers my Dad every Monday lunch time, mom and I would be told how the boys raced over the w/end. I think from memory they had a code and would send their dad a telegram saying the likes" Leaving Riccarton arriving home 2 pm." meaning racing Riccarton race starting 2 pm. put some money one"
Margaret Elaine Sadler
Lyn Wallace Mr Skelton must have been retired from NZR when he went to the PO. although they retired at 60 in those years.
