I had my first drink in a pub in there. I can't remember why but I went there as a child with someone to get Johnny Bignall for some reason and was given my first Raspberry drink. Bignalls had a farm down at the Nile and I am sure John had something to do with the statue at the cemetery being put there. The hotel had a ballroom upstairs.

I seem to remember that this hotel had batwing doors like in the cowboy films. Maybe I am wrong.
