With respect to Michelle and Lyn Moe I have to share a true Dutchy story. About 1970/71 my wife was invited to attend a wedding in ch ch of her best friends sons. So we leve Whataroa travel over and ramp up at the venue that was Christchurch's botanical gardens. On entry I learned there was about 6 different chapels and 6 different weddings a lot of outside marquee settings with trestle tables and waiters hovering everywhere. My wife spotted her friend and took off to join someone hands mx a glass and one of the ever present waiters promptly fills it. Next thing I've got a tap on the shoulder and joined by Dutchie. So he joins me and we start chewing the fat about the future of Rimu sawmilling and things associated. Our glasses were continually topped up. Coming 2 p.m. we look around for our wives and the ceremony. Next thing we have trays of nibbles and various treats along with the amber fluid. Dutchess asks if I can see anyone I know and answer in the negative and then he tells me the same.
We were both at wrong blinking wedding. Consensus well this is pretty good so we stayed on. A million laughs. Our mama's weren't exactly delighted but we had a memorable afternoon. Later anytime we ever saw each other he would roar with laughter RIP Dutchie you were a "Legend "
Allan Waters
