Phill Groom I'm sure thats the water wheel my Father got from Notown and was out the back of the Ashley now at Shantytown, can remember we floated it down the river and transported it into town around 1973/74

Laurie Anisy Hi Phil, yes that was a good Lions Club project led by your Dad, to erect at Shantytown.Was looking at it and talking about that on Wednesday while looking after Kevin Hill's funeral there.

I see a waterwheel in that sawmill shot. I was in this area early 1980s but don’t recollect ever seeing this feature….

Did a hunting trip up there in the mid 60s.There was a mob of wild cattle up the valley who had been living up there for years. Also talked to a gold miner who was using a home built drag line gold dredge powered by a Model T engine in the creek near the road.

I remember a waterwheel still up at No Town in the 1970's. We found a series of semi collapsed/derelict miners huts in the native bush at Abes Gully in the No Town area back in the 70's. Gibson's subsequently logged in the Abe's Gully area.

As quick as we planted pines in the valley for the Forest Service the miners would come behind us and turn them to tailings. Usually after we’d high pruned them.

We went for a drive into the Bush looking for remains of NoTown where my Great Great Grandparents Minnie and Henry Holling lived,we passed a place that sold meats, but after going on a few miles,my Husband wasnt impressed in my wild goose chase, so we turned around and came back out.Were we on the right track to find remains of NoTown,?would loved to have walked on the land that my 2x Grandparents had walked on.

Amanda Burney my grandfather James Keily was born at Notown before moving to Reefton, I went to try find some remains of the area but couldn’t get any further than a creek near the remains of the cemetery, is anything left where the township was?

Frances Hassan hi Frances,I didnt even get near the cemetery, not sure if we were on the right track,we had gone over 10kms at the point we turned back.Maybe after all this time there are no remains of a Township,would need someone with Local Knowledge to comment.At least all wasn't in vain as I found my Great Grandparents William and Frances Fletcher who are buried at Nelson Creek Cemetery,I think my Minnie Holling maybe there as well,alot of the headstones beyond repair.
