I saw the Hospital when the hippies were living there 1983,,stayed there for a few weeks , saw the hospital when it was magnificently fully restored some years later , it was burnt down just before , [i think] before a centenial celebration was to be held.

Andy Bone The Hippies lived in there. It burnt down when NZFS had almost completed the restoration. The cause is still speculated !

The book Our Own Correspondent- Waiuta 1906 - 1951 includes an article (November 6, 1914) from the Grey River Argus of the Opening Ceremony Waiuta Hospital. Opened on 4.11.1914.
