DescriptionThomas and Marion Watson (nee Patton) and their descendants - Thomas Richardson Watson and Thomas Edward Watson (my grandfather). Thomas (snr) was born in Peebles, Scotland and was mine manager at the Wealth of Nations in Crushington. His son Thomas Richardson Watson (TR) married Sophia Claudia Green (daughter of Blacks Point school teacher Richard Edward Green) and they had 3 children. TR Watson was a Reefton county councillor in the 1920s and established a farm at Mountain View, Crushington (Garvey's mine road ran through the farm) which was continued by his sons Thomas Edward Watson (TE) and William Leonard Watson (known as Len). TE married Elizabeth May Bray (daughter of Henry Bray and Elizabeth Sherlock - who was daughter of Reefton photographer William Sherlock). TE and May (as she was known) had 6 children who were raised on the farm and attended Blacks Point school. The family were active in the Blacks Point church. This is a small collection of the four generations of Watsons that lived in the area (still Watson descendants living in Reefton to this day).

Photos: Thomas Watson (senior) Born in Peebles, Scotland in 1841. Died in Crushington in 1927. He was the mine manager at the Wealth of Nations mine for many years.

There were also two Watson daughters - Matilda Dickey Watson and Margaret White Watson. This photo was taken in 1905 at Crushington on the occasion of their sister Margaret's wedding to Richard Wills.

Thomas Richardson Watson and his wife Sophia Claudia Watson (nee Green). She was the daughter of Richard Edward and Sophia Green (nee Ballard). Richard Green was a school teacher at Blacks Point.

The three children of Thomas Richardson and Sophia Claudia Watson (nee Green). Thomas Edward - known as Tom (1902-1983), William Leonard - known as Len (1904-1987) and Ena Mildred - known as Millie and married Martin Alymer Bolitho (1909-1992).

Thomas Edward Watson marries Elizabeth May Bray at Blacks Point in 1927. They farmed all their lives at Mountain View farm in Crushington. They raised a family of 6 children.
