Illona Langley - Went through there 3 months after. Terrible site.

David Carty - Worked in a cutting clearing slips for the railways. I think the area was called the landing. Quite scary with earthquakes going off every now and then.

Jenny Caldwell - David this is called the Junction. The Landing is about 7 miles further toward Reefton. It would have been scary with the aftershocks, not knowing what further damage they would do. I was living in Auckland at the time and my parents were in Reefton. I only learned recently what happened to the old shop. Not sure where they dumped all the rubbish and broken houses. Myron.

Jill Smith - I remember that earthquake so well. It was terrifying as a 10 year old.

Wendy Thomas - Lived in Reefton age 12. Was horrific

Andy Grigg - I was 15, it was fun!

Andy Grigg - I had the full Inangahua Earthquake tour with Dad the Ministry of Works Resident Engineer!

Les Costigan - Pat Smiths car. Saw the headlights go skywards when he backed into hole. Had a for sale sign in back window.

Sonia Dando - Yep I was in Runanga and left that year for Perth Western Australia and Meckering Western Australia had a major one same time.

Garry Woods - Yep was in Runanga same time, earthquake shunted my bed sideways about a foot, bought down powerlines and condemned the house.

Andy Grigg - I heard about a couple north of Inangahua who couldn't get out of bed because it kept hitting the walls!
