CommentsGlenn Johnston I can remember a creek in that general area running through back sections and various bad floods. In the 1960's in the general area surrounded by the toe of the hill north of Stafford Street, Rolleston and Livingstone Streets and Gibson Quay there used to be lake like sheets of water and people would be out in boats during bad floods.

Don Hutton I frequented that area in 1958 but can't recall the flood. The CBD was flooded about that time. Had to wade to the Government Building from Beach St.

Clare Pierson Don Hutton I lived there Don. I have another photo of my brother and a friend in the water on a back lawn. I left home the next year. The Creek flooded quite often but not usually as high as that over the front fence onto the footpath

Clare Pierson This was earlier before I left home and while the Creek broke upper and lower Jollie Street in two. There was only a footpath going through next to Seebecks on the corner of Weld and Jollie Streets. Weld Street ended at a swampy area that the Creek seemed to flow through I think and did not go through to Hoffman Street.

Joan Duncan I remember waking up and seeing our goat up to her kneck in water it was lapping our steps and was in house down from us in livingstone st dads speed boat was floating in the drive

Clare Pierson I paddled down to Perry's grocery shop and the water was higher than the top of my legs. My shopping bag was washed out of my pocket and I caught it floating away. Someone was rowing around Weld Street in a rowboat.
