DescriptionSome pictures of remains at Top Brake Upper Rewanui. This locality is at the top of the rope road near the entrance to the number 1 section of the No 1 Liverpool coal mine. It is also the terminus of the service (horse tram). The rope road sent coal 3.2km down to the bins at the "back shunt" Lower Rewanui the terminus of the NZ Railways branch line at the top of the Rewanui InclineMap^[1]ContributorGlenn Johnston

I used to go through the tunnel at the middle brake and up the track behind the steel winding wheel to the orange hut opposite Birchfields mine and on around follow a cut survey line towards Blackball Peak.
