DescriptionWork on opening out the lower Rewanui seam started late in 1960. It was done via two stone drives, dipping at a gradient of 1 in 3.17, with roof bolts used for support whereever possible. Faulty ground slowed progress considerably during 1961, but the Morgan seam was reached in 1962.

About 1.8m thick, it was expected to increase as development progressed.
